Family-friendly doesn't have to mean bland. The best family-friendly restaurants in Brisbane are the ones that are relaxed enough for kids to be kids, quick enough that nobody's melting down waiting for food, and good enough that the adults at the table enjoy themselves too. Here's where we'd take ours.
Julius Pizzeria, South Brisbane
Tucked into the Fish Lane dining precinct, Julius keeps things simple: good pizza, a casual room, no fuss. It only takes bookings online or by email rather than by phone, so plan ahead if you're coming as a group.
Corbett & Claude, Brisbane City
A CBD spot known for pizza, pasta and cocktails — the pizza-and-pasta combo is about as close to a universal kids' menu as you can get, and there's enough on the cocktail list to keep the grown-ups happy.
Italia Lane, Fortitude Valley
A laneway setting with pizza, pasta and charcuterie. Casual enough for a Tuesday night with kids in tow, but with enough on the menu that it doesn't feel like you're compromising.
Beccofino, Teneriffe
Beccofino has been a neighbourhood pizzeria and Italian restaurant since 2004 — it's the kind of long-running local spot that regulars bring their kids to, then their kids' kids. Closed Mondays, and bookings are online only.
Grill'd, Eagle Street
Sometimes the easiest answer is the right one. Grill'd does build-your-own burgers with enough variety that even fussy eaters can find something, and the counter-service format means you're not waiting long between ordering and eating.
Central Restaurant, Brisbane City
A straightforward CBD Chinese restaurant that's easy to share plates around the table — good for bigger family groups where everyone wants something different.
A few practical tips
Most of these are casual, walk-in-friendly spots, but weekend dinners can still get busy — a quick booking or an early sitting (around 5:30–6pm) will usually get you seated faster with kids in tow.
